“Do I Need a Water Quality System?”

Water quality is important not just for your health but for the long-term lifespan of your water-based appliances (pipes, faucets, etc.) Poor water quality can harm these systems and appliances even if it isn’t hurting your wellbeing.

But how do you know if you have poor water quality that is messing with your plumbing? Read on to find out and discover if you may need a water treatment system added to your home.

Warning Signs of Poor Water Quality

It can be easy to tell when water is unsafe or unclean when you can see discoloration or large amounts of contaminants floating around in it. However, you may not always have these blatant warning signs that the water in your home isn’t quite as clean as you’d like. Here are some indicators to watch for that will tell you if a water treatment system may be a vital addition to your home:

  • Staining in sinks, tubs, or showers: Have you noticed brown, blue, or green stains or lines in your sinks or tubs? It doesn’t just mean that it is time to clean things out. Staining like this indicates the presence of certain minerals and possibly bacteria in your water.
  • Dishes and clothes that are never clean: You wash your dishes thoroughly but they always seem to have some kind of film on them. Likewise, your clothes never seem to get fully clean after a wash. These are indicators of water quality problems.
  • Brittle, dry hair, or itchy skin: High levels of minerals or sediment in your water will make it hard to clean your body properly. This can leave your hair dried out and your skin irritated.
  • Reduced water pressure: Over time, high levels of sediment will collect and harden in your pipes. This will impact your water pressure. If caught early, it is repairable; if not, it can lead to a much more expensive solution.
  • Water that tastes or smells “off”: Do you smell chlorine or rotten eggs when you turn on a faucet? Don’t brush it off–the smell or taste of water that doesn’t seem right is a warning that something is indeed wrong with your water quality.

Water Quality Systems That Can Help

Do the issues above sound familiar? If so, chances are that you would benefit from adding a water treatment system to your home. You can come to our team to find a plumber in Maple Grove, MN who can assess your water quality and pair you with the best system to resolve the problem.

Systems we offer include:

  • Filtration Systems: Water filters are most helpful in homes dealing with low levels of bacteria, sediment, certain minerals, and other contaminants.
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems: These systems force water through a membrane to separate out the minerals and salts that it is carrying. This is an ideal system to use to combat water that has high levels of ions or certain minerals such as lead or magnesium.
  • Water Softeners: Water softeners can help with addressing hard water. We offer chemical, mechanical, and magnetic water softeners to help improve your home’s water supply.
  • Specialty Cartridge Systems: Similar to a water filter, these systems are meant to capture and remove contaminants from water. The difference is that specialty cartridges are made to address very specific problems such as rare metals or chemicals like nitrates or arsenic.
